Best nine-dart moments from the World Grand Prix Darts in Dublin

Even the double-in, double-out set format of the World Grand Prix is famously among the toughest in the PDC Tour, to help to land the nine-dart end is the ultimate dream.
The Brendan Dolan of northern Ireland will be remembered for his nine-dart ending against James Wade at the 2011 World Grand Prix.
Dolan established history as the first player to achieve a nine-dart finish and made him the nickname’The History Maker’.
He generated the operation of his entire lifetime in a 5-2 semi-final conquer of world No 3 Wade, that had been crowned when he struck on a leg that was perfect in the next group of the game.
Dolan opened the leg using a 160 score before incorporating a 180 and a stunning 161 finish – treble 20, treble 17, and then the bullseye – for a magical moment which delivered the Citywest Convention Centre into a frenzy and earned him a #5,000 bonus on top of a guaranteed minimum pay-day of #40,000 for reaching the final.
“It is absolutely amazing,” said Dolan. “I have just done three or four normal nine-darters in practice, so to perform you on TV with a double-start is remarkable.
“Once I hit the 160 and 180, I was focusing so hard on getting the seventh dart from the treble 20. When I struck the treble 17 I knew the bullseye was likely to move in, I believed comfy there.
“It’s the greatest time of my career – to hit a nine-darter and reach the final of a significant tournament is magnificent and the only thing that may out-rank it’s to win the final now.”
Dolan’s wonderful encounter in the championship came to an end if he lost 6-3 in the final to Phil Taylor.
At the World Grand Prix at 2014, James Wade and Robert Thornton left history as the two players withdrew finishes in exactly the identical match.
Thornton missed four darts to win the match and that allowed Wade to win it 3-2 to advance. It was left by him all the way to final before losing 5-3 to Michael van Gerwen.
