Cam Newton is scheduled to throw in all quarterback drills when the Panthers open mandatory minicamp on Tuesday as his rehab from offseason shoulder ramps up.
Speaking to Albert Breer of this MMQB, offensive coordinator Norv Turner stated Newton has been casting for”the previous month,” along with his public display during minicamp is simply the next stage of this procedure.

“He has actually attacked this rehab, and he has done what he could do physically to get back to where he is with the shoulder,” Turner told Breer over the weekend. “The rehab’s gone great. Obviously, part of it he did his own, a big portion of it, until we got back. But since April 20 or so, when we got back, he’s been completely engaged, both physically and mentally.
“It’s been fun to watch him. He’s quite serious about the rehab, but he’s been Cam. Everyone likes being around him. He brings energy each and every day, and he is very helpful with the young quarterbacks.”
Turner joined the Panthers last year as Carolina tried to evolve Newton’s game. The first results were fantastic, as the offense screamed out of the gate and the Panthers got off to a hot start. Regrettably, Newton’s shoulder difficulty imploded the operation, leading to the end-of-season crash.
Beginning with this week’s minicamp, Turner expects an even better Newton in Year 2 of this scheme.
“His second year in a system, there was shift for Cam last year, change for me,” Turner explained. “Together with the young players, their next year, we should see some actual growth — D.J. [Moore], and Curtis Samuel, as well as Christian [McCaffrey]. I think we could be a really, very explosive offense, and his capacity to perform so many things makes it really hard for guards, and we’ll still mix some matters in where he is the featured ball company. We know that it starts with him.”
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday the rumblings coming out of this company imply that Newton is set to”unveil” a massive shift for his throwing mechanics.
“From what I am told this is going to be an unveiling than anything else. I’ve talked to a number of people who’ve watched Cam Newton throw and they are pretty giddy,” he explained. “One of these telling me,’You have got to find this. You can not wait to see this.’
“He has gotten in a much better place physically and he is going to make sure he’s able to throw the ball just like only Cam Newton can for the next several decades, not just this season. Seems like we’re going to see something very different from Cam Newton this week.”
It begins with Newton staying healthy and ensuring his arm is on its way back to full advantage. We get to see our full glance.
