World 100m champion Justin Gatlin remains on course to defend his name.
Gatlin pulled up hurt whilst competing at Zagreb on Tuesday holding on to his hamstring as he faded to finish fourth at the race at a period of 10.29 secs.
His manager Renaldo Nehemiah has said he will go back to training in a week later tests proved negative on any harm.
“He said he began to sense something catching, so he immediately tried to protect against any possible injury occurring,” Nehemiah said.
Tests to Gatlin’s hamstring”revealed he had 100 per cent strength in the leg and also there were no adhesions or something,” Nehemiah added.
It was the second time in a week the 37-year-old had slowed at a race when leading.
Gatlin, who has the fourth fastest time over 100m this season using 9.87 secs, finished fourth in the Zurich Diamond League closing on August 29. Three days later he returned to form, winning a 100m race in Switzerland in 9.97 seconds.
The sprinter won Olympic gold at Athens but then served a ban for doping between 2006 and 2010. He proceeded to win medals in the world championships in 2013 and 2015 and then returned to get a bronze medal at the Olympics in London in 2012.
He went one better in the world championships in London at 2017 with gold in the 100m. He will try to defend that title in Doha.
