Nemanja Matic says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to maintain himself responsible if Manchester United do not compete to the Premier League title.
After making one appearance as a substitute against Southampton matic, who arrived at 2017 at Old Trafford in Chelsea, has played just 22 minutes this season.
United, who won the league title are eighth in the table after four matches and track league leaders Liverpool .
“The coach must choose the team who will fight for the name and when he fails to win, he bears the obligation,” Matic told reporters before Serbia’s European Qualifier against Portugal on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
“I have been in football for a very long time, I have played almost all of the matches for all the clubs in the previous 10 years. In order for me to play, one had to sit the seat and accept that truth, so do I ”
Solskjaer has picked on 22-year-old Scott McTominay to associate Paul Pogba in midfield in the first four matches of United and he is determined to show the wrong though Matic respects the conclusion.
“From the first a couple of matches he picked the group without me,” Matic added. “I work as hard as I can. We honor the decision, it’s up to me to bring me back to where I belong and to show him that he had been wrong.
“There is not any problem. He told him I disagreed with him that he had to pick the group.”
United return to league action after the international break if they host Brendan Rodgers’ unbeaten Leicester on September 14 at Old Trafford.
Paul Scholes does not think Solskjaer’s side may compete to the Premier League title in the following couple of decades.
Results this year show they stay in the Premier League behind last year’s top four are believed by the midfielder.
He said:”I think you practically have to write United off to the next two years – this team – till Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rid what out he wants; has five or four transfer windows.”
