The British no 1 culminating in a first appearance in the last eight in the US Open, and has enjoyed a fine season with a semi-final at the French Open followed by a quarter-final in Wimbledon, in the majors.
However, that run in Flushing Meadows was ended by Elina Svitolina, the fifth seed, on Arthur Ashe.
Konta attempted to become the first British woman to get to the semi-finals at New York because Jo Durie in 1983.
However then she fell short against a foe, Svitolina extending her 100 per cent record against Konta.

“Truly, I didn’t play badly whatsoever. I really felt like I had been doing a lot of good things on the market, a great deal of the right things.
“She made me play that excess ball. It’s frustrating. You know, come through a challenge such as her and I’d have loved to have come through this, however, I suppose it will need to be next time.
“I certainly think that it’s simply the more opportunities I give myself like this, the more chances I have of moving a step further and much more steps further.
“I don’t have any regrets or some other regrets in that which I did before or during this game. I think I did lots of things that are great.
“I believe I can still get better and better. I am able to take a great deal of good things from this ”
For Konta, it is a visit to Broadway to see actor Tom Hiddleston in’Betrayal’. For Svitonina, it is major semi-final looks, with reached the final four in Wimbledon.
The 24-year-old stated:”I believe we were equally striking the ball well, it was rather even. I trying to remain calm and was taking one stage at a time.
“I was relieved that I could function it out and just happy with the way I handled the tension .”
