After sustaining ankle ligament damage in a nightclub fight burnley midfielder Danny Drinkwater will probably be out for two weeks.
The 29-year-old, who is on loan from Chelsea, was reportedly attacked hours after the Clarets’ 3-0 defeat by Liverpool on Saturday, 31 August.
Drinkwater is currently unable to train on grass following the incident, according to Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
“They’re human beings and people do get in scrapes,” Dyche explained.
“He’s old enough and wise enough to know you do whatever you can to make an effort not to get into scratches but sometimes it occurs.
“He’s a part of us. Allow him to get realigned to where he wants to become and where he had been and we must work together with him. We have spoke to the rest will remain private.”
The prior Leicester midfielder has been pictured with facial injuries following the incident and has been limited to one appearance this year.
“We’ve had a conversation with him said: What happened first of all? What was? OK, let us go away from this where to do we proceed from here? That’s where we are at,” Dyche additional.
