Chelsea and England shield Millie Bright has been writing columns for the BBC Sport website.
This weekend revealed where the football of women can go. I hope it excites the fans since it sure does induce the players.
Our friends and family that attended our first Women’s Super League game of the season against Tottenham on Sunday were saying”wow, you are playing at Stamford Bridge” because it’s a shift from playing at Kingsmeadow.
We’re getting bigger and bigger and we want to be in terms of playing in stadiums often, but we want fans to continue purchasing , coming into games and filling them.
We all know it won’t happen straight away but the caliber we’ve got has been demonstrated by us. This is the place we have to drive for women’s soccer. We talk a lot about raising the amount of individuals who attend games but to be able to do that we have to be at stadiums.
Despite 25,000 at a 40,000-seater Stamford Bridge I believed there was an air. I could hear the lovers throughout the game. When the object went in it was not electric!
This was a special occasion. It’s an honour to be aware that the club set this on for us. The numbers are likely to rise.
We want more times like this. It is going to be one to remember for quite a while and hopefully it’s the start of a season.
I have always said it’s great as it receives the attention to have a specific allocation of tickets. But today we need the game to proceed in a way where more and more fans are buying tickets. It’s a business at the day’s close to day.
To begin with , we needed to capture the attention of a new viewers and I believe we have lasted it and did that. That’s been revealed from the audiences that have come out this weekend.
I feel like we are really a force but we don’t just need it to be in this club. We need it to be for the advantage of the league.
We are in a situation where we do need to push Chelsea. We would like people to see what we’re doing and think”we deserve that too”. That is the way you make improvements and earn change – it’s about people seeing it and making their club alter too.
We’re pushing for change in women’s soccer and on days like Sunday, you can see it. It was about the match but everything – we’d face-painting available and fire engines and police cars . There was all for the fans an entertaining moment to make it.
I have enormous respect for Tottenham because that has been their very first game in the league and it was a fantastic performance. They didn’t stop trying and put up a fight to the last second. It shows the development of these women’s game and it’s going to be this season – the roughest yet.
I am proud of our striker Beth England because of her performances recently. She’s the goal on Sunday and I thought she played in her first two matches with England.
When there is one player which it is possible to search for inspiration as someone who has been told”you are most likely not going to arrive”, it is Beth.
She has proven people wrong through determination and hard work. I’m so happy for her because I’ve played for several years together and in the young age at Sheffield United and Doncaster Belles.
You always hold back a bit once you get into the England squad as you are getting to know people but since she comes into it more and more, she will relax.
Hopefully she could be the Beth that we all know. She will be flying the pitch once that happens. If she keeps working hard she’ll be among the best in the league.
People on the outside do not always understand what we’re trying to accomplish or what we are currently discussing in the England camp, however, it’s about locating a new way of playing, progressing and being adaptable .
There are not any changes set in stone yet. It hasn’t been stated that Lucy Bronze would probably likely be playing midfield, we just wish to have the ability to change up things.
We did not win our two games – drawing and losing 2-1 to Norway – so fans will need to be more patient however they were our matches following the World Cup. We are not perfect although we made errors.
Since we’re trying new things it won’t be plain-sailing. They will not come off immediately – that takes time. I don’t think that it’s anything to be worried about. It came to sloppiness from the matches and mistakes that were made individually.
We’ve got two decades so it’s not going to be perfect now. We must trust that the process and believe we will be firing and prepared at the top level in two years’ time.
