Video assistant referees (VARs) stay”happy” with how their technologies was utilized in the Premier League and have no immediate plans to change their own’high pub’ earlier intervention, Sky Sports News understands.
VAR was involved in controversy after incidents at the weekend between the Youri Tielemans of Leicester, the Sebastien Haller of West Ham, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish along with Newcastle’s Isaac Hayden.
Villa needed a last-gasp equaliser ruled out after Grealish was adjudged to have dived earlier in the move, Haller had a penalty appeal turned against Norwich, Tielemans was not red-carded for a nasty attack on Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson along with Hayden’s handball from the run-up into Fabian Schar’s goal in the home to Watford has been missed.
The Professional Game Match Officials Board [PGMOL] will have a meeting with referees this week to assess the latest form of Premier League matches.
It is understood they’ll discuss when VAR is used but there are no immediate plans to recommend any adjustments that were substantial to the’high pub’ in place prior intervention.
Referees are to use tracks to examine any conclusions following pre-season advice to prevent slowing down the match.
Monitor checks may take a mean of about 90 minutes along with the PGMOL has encouraged its own officials to use the screen.
No referee has employed the pitchside monitor in 40 Premier League games so far.
The former referee responsible for VAR’s introduction has stated supporters need to”trust” them following high-profile incidents this season.
Neil Swarbrick admits it may take up to adjust to VARs in the game.
“I think it will take a couple of years [for use to it], to be honest,” Swarbrick told Sky Sports News last month.
“You will have those who just like football how it was and do not want any modifications, you get your purists who like the referees to venture outside, make decisions, and also, should they make it right, make it wrongthey can live with that.”
