European Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington has named Robert Karlsson as his very first vice-captain for the 2020 competition.
Karlsson represented Europe twice before returning to play at the defeat in Valhalla two years after featuring at the record-breaking win in the K Club.
The Swede also worked together with Harrington as a portion of Thomas Bjorn’s backroom staff for the 2018 contest, where Europe ran out convincing 16.5-11.5 winners at Le Golf National.
Three factors were enrolled by karlsson for Europe and was beaten forming an unbeaten partnership with Paul Casey during the 2006 competition and thrashing Justin Leonard in the singles at 2008.
The 49-year-old provides plenty of expertise to the European group, having listed 11 European Tour successes from over 600 appearances and previously won the European Tour’s Order of Merit.
Qualification for Europe’s next Ryder Cup team gets underway this week together with the yearlong effort.
The 2020 Ryder Cup takes place at which Europe will soon be bidding register their fifth off success in the contest and to keep the trophy.
