The UCLA Bruins travel to Palo Alto for a Thursday night Pac-12 showdown against the Stanford Cardinal.
UCLA are searching for their second win of the year. Theyre coming off a bye and had a break following their loss from the Oregon State Beavers that are lowly. This was once they arrived within 3 points of Arizona and a crazy win from Washington State.
All of that momentum got thrown out the doorway with a reduction against Oregon State. Jake Luton diced the secondary upwards for 5 touchdown passes and 285 passing yards. Oregon State moved the ball together with 123 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns out of Artavis Pierce also, around the ground.
The air was sucked out of the locker room to get Chip Kellys squad. UCLA needed to proceed with all the quarterback against Oregon State two weeks ago. With an accident being suffered by Dorian Thompson-Robinson the Bruins were forced to proceed with Austin Burton. Burton passed for 236 yards and a touchdown, but thats not using the UCLA defense.
Thompson-Robinson is listed as questionable heading into Thursday night. There has not been a definite answer regarding Thompson Robinson. We probably wont find out before gameday. Chip Kelly probably knows who will be playing, but he is going to force just two quarterbacks to be prepared for by Stanford. The QB is immaterial if the secondary appears just like they did from Washington State and Oregon State.
There were flashes of what this offense may be. Take a look at the tape of the Washington State game and it looked like Chip Kelly. Thats the only game we have seen Thompson-Robinson and UCLA operating at full strength . They face last week, a Stanford team who locked a Washington team that is quality down.
Davis Mills looked comfortable under center with a good defense. Should they get ready in the identical fashion and dont take UCLA lightly, transferring the ball should be easy for the Cardinal. They meet, UCLA have famously fought against Stanford. When the Bruins were great, the Cardinal have always given issues to them. Stanford are on a win streak over UCLA, which will be using the Bruins becoming a far better team before. UCLA have been abysmal on the street the last few decades, with a horrific record of 2-16. I bet that at 6.5 if the line was released, but such as Stanford to win by double digits to pay the present spread.
