Coventry City have agreed a deal with director Mark Robins following the approach to speak to him regarding the function of their vacant manager of Sunderland.
After gaining advertising through the play-offs in 2017/18 robins has guided Coventry to fifth position in Sky Bet League One 11 matches this season.
The 49-year-old is at his second spell in charge of the Sky Blues and told Sky Sports News hesfully committed to the club despite Sunderlands interest.
Robins stated:It has been really fast. I had been advised on Wednesday afternoon.
[On Thursday] the club had started negotiations in a contract and straightaway I stated I didnt wish to leave.
Im totally committed here. The work weve completed over the previous three or four years has been really good and Ive got a real affinity and a real connection with this area, therefore it might take something specific for me to move anywhere else.
Sunderland have been connected including Wigans Paul Cook and Wycombes Gareth Ainsworth, because they sacked Jack Ross on Tuesday after less than 18 months in the club.
Robins insists that his goal is to attempt to guide Coventry back into the Championship despite being calmed by the curiosity of Sunderland.
He added:Sunderland is a distinctive club. Its really near my heart and the job that we are doing and it is a big team, but so is this, the challenges we have encounter together.
There is still a lot of challenges to get through, however I am in the middle of a job that I am really enjoying and Id like to carry this to its decision, so far as we possibly can do.
The immediate intent is to try and get into the Championship as fast as we can. I am happy its all sorted and put to bed because theres huge games coming up along with the match on Sunday is simply that.
The chief executive David Boddy of coventry is delighted to have retained Robins at the club, yet commended Sunderland for their manner during event.
