As his wife Kim is expecting the couples third child in the coming weeks, andy Murray will have a hiatus from his tennis comeback.
Murray is planning a month-long break following the next weeks European Open, but he is prepared to depart Antwerp and reunite should Kim enter a young labour.
Obviously the baby can come any time from pretty much next week. I would adjust my schedule if I couldnt go to Antwerp, the former world No 1 told The Times.
My plan is to play Antwerp and then I am done through to the Davis Cup (November 18-25). In case the baby came first, I would miss Antwerp and maybe play in the Paris Masters (October 26-November 3).
The 32-year-old has returned to singles competition following a hip facelift surgery.
A run to the quarter-finals of the China Open last week where world No 5 Dominic Thiem beat him – had been followed with a defeat to world no 12 Fabio Fognini at the Shanghai Masters.
Murray is happy with his progress along with the three-time Grand Slam winner is hopeful of being able to contend with the world going.
He added:I am surprised with how eloquent (my return) has been. I had two years of having plenty of pain. Now I play with a match, the body hurts, I have any pain in my spine, the muscles are exhausted and things like this, but that my hip is nice and I could not recall what that was like previously.
Ive been aggressive so far. I can get around there, if I could keep advancing a few things and maybe theres an outside chance.
I would like to be aggressive in the big events against the best players. I am not there yet, but Im closer than I was a month past, and even closer than a few months back.
Murray is the first player to return to the singles match after his kind of operation, even though Bob Bryan was able to keep his doubles career following a process that is similar.
Should he suffer another injury to the region Murray would be ready to call it.
I now know that it is not important where or when I finish my career, he explained. If I had an alternative hip accident, I probably would not continue. My trendy might break and that would be it. If this happened I would be completed.
However, theres not any sign of that happening anytime soon. It appears to be getting more powerful all the time.
