Fantasy Shot Can be Led to the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket next month after putting up a personal best Screen when runner-up from the Flying Childers Stakes.
Trainer James Tate was delighted with the Dream Ahead colt finished his race to claim second place, only a length behind the Breeders’ Cup jumped A’Ali at Doncaster over five furlongs in the Group 2.
“He ran a blinder. He’s not the most straightforward. He is a little bit wayward. He arrived home well which was definitely a career-best attempt,” said the Newmarket handler.
“I’d have believed something like the Cornwallis would be on his radar.
“He’s got an entry in a Listed race (Harry Rosebery Stakes) in Ayr this week but the Cornwallis would be likely.”
Tate disclosed Kyllang Rock is unlikely to maintain his engagement from the Dubai International Airport World Trophy at Newbury on Saturday unless floor condition ease.
“He is in good form. He won his own requirements race well the other day (at Nottingham),” he said.
“He does enjoy ease in the floor and the forecast looks fairly dry right now.
“I would say he will probably sidestep the weekend unless the forecast changed”
