Mets vs. Braves MLB Pick – August 14th

Even the New York Mets went to a monster rush to enter the wildcard hunt in the National League and they cannot afford to unwind. They dug a big enough gap for themselves that a 16-1 run is not going to reduce it. While it was a remarkable job by the Mets, they’re not even at the Wild Card Game if that was today. They wouldn’t even be the first team outside.
The Mets will finish the year 2 games back of the postseason, whereas the Nationals and also Cardinals decide who moves on to the next round. Since going 16-1, the Mets have dropped their last two matches. They failed to complete off the Nationals with a sweep and had difficulties from the Braves on Tuesday night.
Max Fried put together a top notch performance, since he outpitched Zack Wheeler for the win. The Mets needed to be the very bet underdog about the card yesterday evening. Everybody has been decreasing in love together, but future success is not guaranteed due to this tremendous work. That saidthe National League wildcard race is wide open and the Mets have the best turning out of those teams vying for a place.
The Braves do not need to mess around with wildcards and have the inside track to securing the best spot in the NL East. They are holding on a 6-game lead from the and do not seem to be letting go of it, but a lot could change in a hurry. The Nationals are still living and have a puncher’s chance at devoting six matches.
Even the Braves’ bullpen have experienced difficulties, so their relievers crumbling down the stretch is exactly what the Nationals need. Dallas Keuchel hopes to find a good deal of innings before needing to go to the bullpen tonight. Keuchel gets the nod from Steven Matz of the Mets on Wednesday night in SunTrust Park.

The Braves have reacted nicely after blowing off a 4-run lead in the 9th against the Marlins on Saturday. In what was their most debilitating loss of this year, the bullpen completely dropped and let a 6-2 lead become a 7-6 loss. Great teams know how to rebound from brutal losses, though, along with the Braves figured it out and have won the two games since with a score of 5-4 and 5-3.
They obtained strong starts from Foltynewicz and Fried in back excursions. Foltynewicz getting into shape for the last stretch of the regular season and playoffs could be huge to the Braves. He has been off the mark from last year, however, Atlanta could get a massive boost if he is able to turn it around. Keuchel was sporadic since registering up with the Braves.
The franchise will be searching for more with games getting more important. In any event, Keuchel has excelled at home using an ERA of 2.96 and 0.84 WHIP in 27.1 innings of work. He has not allowed more than just 3 runs in an effort at home so far. He’s been decent contrary to this Mets roster in the past, holding them to a .254 typical in 181 at-bats.
Matz has not had too much success, with all the Braves hitting .292 using a .366 OBP and 17 runs scored in 120 at-bats. Even the Mets have scored only 3 runs in 61 more appearances at the plate from Keuchel. Matz has not been at this finest on the street.
He has been awful really. As a seeing hurler, Matz has posted a 6.79 ERA and 1.67 WHIP at 55.2 innings of work. He’s surrendered 16 extended chunks in contrast to only 4 in Citi Field in Queens. Variance is likely to last Wednesday for the Mets, since they drop into the Braves at SunTrust Park for a second consecutive day.
