MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR FRIDAY – NURMAGOMEDOV INJURED AGAIN

In possibly the news of the year UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov is hurt. According to reports, Nurmagomedov was forced to pull out of his forthcoming Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale co-headlining bout against Tony Ferguson due to a rib injury. There are talks but nothing is set in stone, as of now. That makes it the third right fight Nurmagomedov hasn’t managed to determine completion. It started with a planned UFC 178 fight against Donald Cerrone that”The Eagle” was pressured from following a knee injury. He reaggravated the knee once the bout was rescheduled for UFC 187 and he’s out of the December fight. Nurmagomedov has not fought because a unanimous decision victory over Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos. Depending on the length of time it takes for him to recuperate from this rib setback, he could be on over a yearlong break before the Octagon is seen by him again. Ross Pearson vs. Francisco Trinaldo — UFC Fight Night 81 While one UFC bout was cancelled, another was declared as recent winners Ross Pearson and Francisco Trinaldo are slated to throw down in Boston this upcoming January. Pearson was successful in his final bout over Paul Felder via unanimous decision despite being a hefty underdog. Trinaldo did the exact same thing, winning through round TKO over Chad Laprise this past August as a dog. Trinaldo certainly has more momentum, although this is a fight. The Brazilian has won four straight spells and is coming from the best success of his career while Pearson has been unable to string any wins together in his last eight fights. While Pearson has more name recognition, it wouldn’t shock me to see Trinaldo open because the little betting popular this time around because of his current string of success.
