It’s the period of the NFL calendar through which players take more time to return to charities and causes that are close to their own hearts. When many players do charity work through the season, the summertime gives greater chances for larger gifts.
K.J. Wright is just one high-profile example.
The Seattle Seahawks linebacker is currently going to Kenya to test in on the colonies this past year he helped finance.

“It just hit on my heart,” Wright said of the final trip to Kenya, via the group’s official site. “I am constantly trying to help people when I could, and I just learned about a situation I had no idea about, and it just touched me to do something”
Wright helped raise more than $75,000 — such as the $25,000 received to be named the Seahawks’ 2018 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee — to pay for 2 wells, with some cash left over to help provide future aid to the region. The 29-year-old noted during the summer that each well costs about $20,000.
“You see where they receive their water from, it’s terrible what they need to do in order to get water, so this might be big to them,” Wright stated.
Helping to get a vital life source to those in need has been a job of many NFL players, together with Wright’s contribution being the latest example of the way these guys may have a lasting influence not just on the field and within their regional communities, but around the world.
