Andy Flower leaves England Lions role and departs ECB

Former England head coach Andy Flower leaving the ECB and is leaving his post as coach of the Lions.
Flower was working for its last years together with the Lions. The Zimbabwean has been an assistant trainer with the England team in 2007, before taking up the role of head trainer in 2009.
The 51-year-old led England in the rankings in 2011, but pointed throughout his tenure as one of his highlights to the 3-1 Ashes series win over Australia.
The Ashes victory in 2010-11 stands out, he explained.
It is difficult to win in Australia and to do it so comprehensively was a really proud moment in my coaching career. It was fantastic to watch those men have a terrific time doing this and take on such a challenge successfully.
The triumph at India in 2012-13 was a highlight too, to overcome some terrific players in tough spinning terms was a special success.
So was the T20 World Cup win in 2010. The way we played our cricket, with this liberty and aggression, really was enjoyable to be part of.
Flower said he was grateful for the help he received while at the control of England and pleased to have played an significant role in the creation of some of the top cricketers of the country.
Id love to thank the captains I labored with best, Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss, for their commitment and friendship through the years, he added.
It has been a privilege to use all the players. At times, as a mentor and a mentor, in environments you hold a position.
You wind up sharing a few really intimate moments – finished a beer in the dressing area, working hard together in the baits, or even listening to a personal problem and helping to work through this – and it is a privilege to have the ability to contribute and affect these young men lives.
