Giro d’Italia winner, Richard Carapaz will join Team Ineos by the start of the 2020 season.
Even the 26-year-old Ecuadorian and the team have consented a deal and adds to an already impressive stable of riders that includes Egan Bernal, Geraint Thomas and Tour de France winners Chris Froome.
Team principal Sir Dave Brailsford – whose group have won seven of the previous eight Tour de France titles – said:”He’s obviously a fantastic climber but also has great versatility as he revealed at the Giro earlier this past year.
“He’s still relatively young and I don’t have any doubt that he could develop and enhance even farther at Team Ineos.”
Before this season, when he succeeded in the Giro carapaz became the first riders from Ecuador to win some Grand Tour.
He explained:”I am quite enthusiastic about joining the team. I think this is a wonderful opportunity for me to continue my development and growth as a rider, operating with a group that continues to go from strength to strength, year in, year out.
“I believe I will fit into this class race and well into my full potential over the next few years. I wish to attain some fantastic triumphs to get Team Ineos.”
Meanwhile, two-time grand tour champion Nairo Quintana is linking Arkea-Samsic on a three-year deal.
The 29-year-old Giro, who won the Giro d’Italia in 2014 and the Vuelta at 2016, has also double completed runner-up at the Tour de France.
