Cast your minds back Liverpool travelled to Chelsea in late September to face a Blues side using a manager still very much implementing his ideas.
Not a lot has changed.
That match ended all-square after the late screamer of Daniel Sturridge kept his side’s unbeaten run intact–even though Chelsea with the best opportunities during the match–and this is shaping up to be a different affair.
Both sides suffered poor Champions League beats through the week – after Ross Barkley’s penalty miss, Chelsea at home to Valencia, and Liverpool awakened a weak display in Napoli for the 2nd consecutive season.
Of course Liverpool in the Premier League have a 100% record heading to this one, while Chelsea–that possess the second-worst defence in the league along with the third-best assault –are a little up-and-down, though I don’t believe this will be evident throughout the course of the game.
Liverpool have won just one of their past seven games from Chelsea (the UEFA Super Cup is firmly down as a draw), and now I think this is where they drop their first points of the season, so I am backing a Chelsea/draw dual chance.
The Blues are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League home games, and even though there are objects packed into both sides are scored in the previous six Premier League meetings between the 2 sides.
Liverpool’s last couple of trips to Stamford Bridge have not yielded victories, and after a few iffy performances from Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk in the rear, this might just be a chance for Chelsea to grab another positive result — especially if Mason Mount is healthy along with Tammy Abraham continues his exceptional shape. ??
This fixture has often been overrun by early goals.
A goal was scored over 35 minutes at the previous eight encounters between Liverpool and Chelsea .
Though these are usually not goal-fests, the information suggests it’s worth backing a historical attack, therefore my next tip is for a goal to be performed to get a little additional value — only before the minute.
