Eddie Howe states VAR is to prove itself that there were four wrong decisions made by the system from the Premier League this season.
Two of the four episodes mentioned by referees’ chief Riley included Bournemouth. Youri Tielemans’ apparent stamp on Callum Wilson was first one, and another was the decision not to award Manchester City a penalty when Jefferson Lerma stood the foot of David Silva at the Bournemouth box.
Howe is glad that there is transparency round the decisions, but says he’s”still on the fence” about VAR for a idea.
“It’s interesting that they’ve come out and stated that there has been errors made, which I believe will be a good thing,” Howe said at Friday’s press conference.
“I’ve got no problem with them admitting coming out, I think that’s a positive thing to the sport and for VAR.
“I always said at the beginning of the season there is going to be mistakes, there’s going to be twists and turns in the use of it and also how the grading system operates and what they alter.
“The Tielemans tackle – for me should have been a red card. I will probably stay silent on the other person!”
Asked when he was a lover of VAR’s effect, Howe stated:”I am still on the fence. It ought to demonstrate itself that it is very good for the game”
