Albigna wins Marcel Boussac at ParisLongchamp

Albigna bounced back with an achievement in the Prix Marcel Boussac at ParisLongchamp.
Jessica Harringtons charge had seemed every inch a filly in the manufacturing after winning the Group Two Airlie Stud Stakes at the Curragh and a maiden before the year.
The Niarchos family-owned juvenile disappointed when fancied for the Moyglare Stud Stakes three weeks before, but was later discovered to be in time.
This competition presented a chance to Zoffanys girl to catch Group One glory – and while she was under pressure at the hands of Shane Foley until the house turn, she responded admirably to her riders urgings.
Marieta appeared going to claim top honours after pulling clear of the field, but she drained late in the testing conditions and 4-1 shot Albigna reeled in her to win with something to spare.
The previously unbeaten favourite Savarin of andre Fabre was well-beaten.
Harrington said:I wasnt really confident beforehand as shes run on nice and good to firm ground, therefore we were moving into the unknown. She showed the Albigna that is real we see in the home, although I was actually not that optimistic going into now.
Ive only noticed it the once and I thought she wasnt travelling that great, however Shane said later that she likes to find her feet, which she failed in her first two races.
In the Moyglare she conducted a little free and was proven to be in year afterwards.
The cost of Harrington cuts for the 1000 Guineas of next year from 25-1 to 14-1.
Harrington said:Its wonderful to win this race and now I am grateful to the Niarchos family for sending me all these beautifully-bred yearlings – following the season we had last year with Alpha Centauri I did not believe Id maybe have a year like that together using all the two-year-old fillies.
I would imagine so (Guineas filly), she gets the mile nicely and she is a big filly and Id imagine she would remain farther than a mile.
That is really awin and you are in to your Breeders Cup and that I know it is quite near the heart of Maria (Niarchos), the Breeders Cup, so well talk about that after the dust has settled here.
I would say shes probably best of the pecking order (of their stable fillies) since she stayed the mile so that she seems more like a timeless filly.
