Sam Burgess faces fine over NRL ‘kangaroo court’ comments

England forward Sam Burgess faces a potential good after explaining the National Rugby League (NRL) judiciary process as a”kangaroo court”.
The South Sydney captain left the comments after receiving a one-match prohibit.
Burgess pleaded guilty for the conduct fee which ruled him to the Roosters.
“Who is making the calls here?” Burgess said. “Can there be a discussion prior to these calls go out there? I really don’t understand. What’s the process? It is like a kangaroo court in there.”
Burgess provoked a response from the NRL, who had been upset with his remarks.
The league’s chief executive Todd Greenberg explained:”On face value, Sam’s remarks about the judiciary breach that our code of conduct and so are offensive to the chairman and members of the panel that carry out their responsibilities impartially, without fear or favour.
“We take a pragmatic perspective about most of the discussion that happens around the match.
“However, the NRL judiciary is a life threatening and individual procedure depending on the principles of natural justice in our court system.
“Our seat is a prestigious judge of the maximum calibre and our board members are former high profile gamers who are independent from nightclubs. The integrity of the machine and the people in it should never be questioned.”
Burgess is forecast to explain his comments next week, even after agreeing to match Greenberg and the Rugby League Players Association.
