Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that he will be about the long run in Old Trafford and does not want assurances about his potential.??
Talking to Gary Neville at a wide-ranging private interview with Sky Sports before a Super Sunday clash the United boss backed the club’s recruiting stated he’s in the process of altering the tradition of his squad and plans.
“Each of the discussions I’ve had with the owners, together with Ed Woodward and the club have been around me using a three-year contract,” explained Solskjaer, whose side now sit 12th from the Premier League.
“We’re planning long-term. I’ve been awarded the job and you don’t await a call, if you drop a game or 2.
“But we started out with a plan and a recruiting program is in place. I am 100 percent sure from my time that the arrangement is right as it is always the supervisor with the last say.”

Gary Neville: On the past couple of weeks, you’ve been made to perform with a good deal of youngsters. I think you would like to play with kids…

GN: Maybe more than you would have imagined. Are you pleased with them? Is it too big a request in the position that the team is in to expect the performances to be delivered by these young lads along with the results?
OGS: I’m quite happy with the young boys. You’ve got to place this question in a couple of brackets, really. They’ve stepped in through difficult circumstances. However, I feel they have held their very own.
We’ve had a couple of debuts in Europe and at the league. I don’t think that it’s the boys that you are able to say from because this club is also full of seasoned internationals along with medal-winners, championship 31, we expect more. I really don’t believe the young ones have set a foot wrong.
GN: five or six players cleared . [Marouane] Fellaini abandoned, [Ander] Herrera abandoned, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Chris Smalling went out on loan.
It’s clear what you are attempting to do, clearing the club of players who maybe do not have the high quality or wished to leave, but have been instances in the past couple of weeks where you thought you wish you had had Lukaku or Sanchez, to call upon that experience?
OGS: In games that are one-off, you think we could’ve had a number of additional players with expertise. At the present time, we made those choices and they were the ideal decisions, although Rom and alexis are all players and goalscorers.
That’s the only means you have got to consider it. Each of the players want to give everything to your club and for the shirt – that is a big thing.
Every day that they come in practice, and every day they put the top on, they’re going to give everything they have. That means you can’t actually say,’oh I really wish I didn’t do this’.
Giving a few of these lads the chance to reveal themselves, maybe it was a bit too early to get a few of them. But Mason Greenwood has stepped in and scored a few in the games, therefore it’s a fantastic experience for them.
That I wouldn’t have retained the players we offered, although we all know we have not had the results that we wanted. It was the right decision.
GN: Why would you think that it’s been a struggle to get the goals which you would anticipate?
OGS: There is several reasons, but among them is injuries to Anthony [Martial], who started very well through the center together with Marcus [Rashford] on the left. Creating chances was a struggle for us with teams falling deep. It’s the nice margins .
If you go 1-0 up instead of 1-0 down, when you take a look at the Harry Maguire along with Scott McTominay headers against Newcastle and Arsenal, it is a very different ball game. But we are practising patterns each and every week and once we get the players fit, I’m likely to create Marcus and Anthony score those scruffy objectives, as that is what I did!
GN: What was the condition of the squad when you found it and picked this up?
OGS: Of course, they have been reduced in confidence because they had been shedding some matches. The culture that there was something I wished to change. We have let there go a few players and we’ve brought a few in – great characters and personalities that aided the civilization.
As a manager, you require a culture and a base to move the team .
GN: This summer you brought in Dan James, [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire, spending around #140m. However, when you examine the outgoings with the wages of Lukaku, Sanchez, Fellaini, Herrera and Smalling, you’d believe the club has already spent a web of around #30-40m.
That is not sufficient for Manchester United at this moment in time. Could the club was the money just not there or not get the gamers?
OGS: The money is there. We’ve been looking at gamers and we’re near a couple but it’s not right for those who do not get the ideal players. The money is there to strengthen January and in the summer.
We are planning and we’re looking. We’re refining our goals, but before the summertime window finished, the players that are considerate weren’t there. However, the resources are there if the correct players are available.
GN: Do you sense now because of the outcomes that you want to do business in January, whereas a month or two ago, you were probably just a tiny bit more relaxed about it? Do you feel like it’s necessary to acquire gamers in January to strengthen a squad that in the moment is extremely young, has accidents and lacks a little bit of experience?
OGS: January is a tricky window, anyhow. However, if you can find players available and at the ideal cost, I am sure we will spend. There could be some expert players that will come in and assist the younger players – that might be worth the cost.
So it depends upon who is available. I’m not likely to go down the route of attracting players in on big contracts and large fees if they are not the appropriate ones for the entire group and for your long run.
GN: The results haven’t been great. How do you turn things round?
OGS: Through a lot of work in the training floor, but I believe getting players back following long term harms will be key. Obviously, it will take some time to get them 100 percent match again.
If we are able to get David [p Gea] fit – hopefully he won’t be overly long – get Paul [Pogba] back, Anthony [Martial] back, Jesse [Lingard] back, Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly rear – we have had so many players outthere After we get them back fit, I think we will look a more powerful team again.
GN: Are you personally coping with everything that is going on at the club currently?
OGS: I don’t like losing matches – you understand me. But I also know that this club will become back. After both awful beats away from home in West Ham and Newcastle, we haven’t won away from home for a while. It does play on your mind, however, it does not make me shed my sleep.
You look ahead to another one. I’m an optimist, and I would rather be an optimist and be proved wrong than a pessimist and be right. I look at the match as a chance. The Liverpool match is a great chance for people.
It’s in my nature to consider the best-case scenario. I understand the fans and the players will be up for this. We’ve had some amazing sessions and I know we’ll be prepared. everything will be given by the gamers, and let us see where it takes .
GN: You have been positive towards those players. You have been positive in the moment you arrived in. The last director Jose Mourinho did was critical of them at times also start to flip to the players. Is your patience being examined?
OGS: Of course I am optimistic, and there are players here. I don’t lose my patience, although these are conditions. Naturally, we need.
There are times that you feel that the margin that is moving against us… if that turns, we might only go on a rush here. When you look in, we could go when I first came in that we did.
GN: Do you feel these players can get you in the top four?
OGS: Yes, undoubtedly. Of course, we are looking at one or two new signings. We could do something if the appropriate ones can be found in January, and we’ve said this, although we’re one or two players mild. If not, these players will give everything.
GN: I Wish to ask you. You and he played along with Harry Maguire against Newcastle. Do you see him as an spouse for Maguire?
OGS: I think Axel is currently going to have a great career at Man United, and so will Harry. We signed Victor [Lindelof] on a contract, thus we’ve got centre-backs there that are going to be a part of this future. Axel can also play full-back, he will play with midfield, and he will play with his share of games.
He’s a pioneer and has always been a pioneer at the dressing-room. He’s stepping up and he’s maturing.
GN: I stated a couple of weeks back it seemed like Marcus Rashford had a break. Does he want a rest, can he have a fracture, and what’s his very best position?
OGS: at the moment we can not really give him a break because we’ve had accidents. Anthony [Martial] has been out for eight weeks. So he’s had to play with loads more football than I’d hoped.
Marcus is a centre forward who can play left, right and consequently a No 10. He wishes to have the ability to play each of the positions. I need him to be facing the target, I want to be attacking immediately and direct, therefore I see him coming off the left or right as part of two up front.
Marcus’ movement is very good, but maybe we just should give him a match or two of rest since he has played a lot. From time to time, because he is a young boy with lots of expectations on his shoulders, he is played with four or five seasons now, and yet he’s still not 22 yet.
As he did for England he is a scorer of great objectives. I need him to turn into a great goalscorer – and that is a different mentality. Right now, he is learning his trade.
GN: Is that last response a small bit of a hint to how you’re likely to play against Liverpool? Are you really going to play two strikers in case Martial’s match?
OGS: I will need to make a choice on Anthony. He’s not educated with us yet, he’s still working with the physios and the physical fitness trainers. Marcus has not return from internationals yet, so we’re probably not ready to play with the two of them collectively. They might have to share the load.
GN: Liverpool have been in terrific form, they have been now for some time. It’s a sport where it will not bear thinking about losing as a participant, trainer or as a fan. So how can you beat them?
OGS: There’s a lot of pieces. We have got to prepare yourself and I think the players are emotionally prepared with this one. Of course, the fans will be behind their backs.
Liverpool have been on a terrific run. Deano (loaned-out Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson) knows he could’ve stopped that run, however we know we’ll just have to ride their great moments, since they’ve got some quality players, but we’re Manchester United also there are some great players here.
We will need to step up to the plate, and now these are the huge games that you sign up to in Man United – .
GN: Have the players got a response. Are they capable of showing they’re able to beat against Liverpool?
OGS we have struggled more in games where we’ve had to break down teams. We have had 80 or 75 per cent possession in matches and we have not been in a position to create the chances that are big. The Leicester and Chelsea matches in the home were ownership, and we’ve had spaces to assault into.
I can’t watch Liverpool coming to park the bus that is just not within their own mindset. So I could see it {being a open match, that will satisfy us
