Liverpool’s specialist throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark states Jurgen Klopp’s innovative approach to management is helping to build”something special” in Anfield.
Klopp made headlines last season when he included his training team and Gronnemark midway.
The Dane, who holds the world record for the maximum throw-in in 51.33m, had an immediate effect on the technique of this club’s full-backs – most especially Joe Gomez.
Liverpool went on to assert their sixth European Cup that year and Gronnemark is not surprised to see the Reds.
“Jurgen is a innovator,” Gronnemark told The Athletic. “He is a leader who claims that he doesn’t understand everything and is willing to listen to folks if they have knowledge to take the club forward.
“If you’ve got a leader that wants total control and believes that he knows best about what then that will affect the employees.
“Even though you are among the best clubs in the world, it doesn’t mean you’ve got to do exactly the exact identical thing because you did yesterday. When you meet Jurgen you really feel just as though you’re speaking with a buddy. He succeeds lots.
“To let a man into the team who was pretty much unknown in England and convey to him’we want all your knowledge to put it into the coaching programme’, that reveals a great deal of confidence and fantastic leadership.
“He’s great at getting the most out of people. It is considerably more egocentric at clubs. There’s a pride among the gamers and the team. They feel part of something specific.
“Occasionally I’ll stop and consider the players in front of me and think,’Oh, that is crazy’. I am working.
“InitiallyI had a contract for the first half of the season then it was extended for the next half and now I have one for the complete season.
“I don’t believe many men and women are laughing now. I believe most people in football look at it and say,’Alright, there has to be something inside’.”
