Johanna Konta will not be able to meet the requirements for the season-ending WTA Championships and won’t play any tournaments in Asia this autumn.
The British number one has pulled from the China Open in Beijing due to”slight knee pain” and didn’t enter the next week’s lucrative championship in Wuhan in China.
She’s next expected to perform at the middle of October in Moscow.
Konta, 28, is now 11th in the yearly WTA singles race.
The best eight players qualify to the WTA Championships however, the next 11 – plus a wildcard – are qualified to compete at the Elite Trophy.
Konta remains very likely to qualify for this case, which will be staged at the end of October at the Chinese city of Zhuhai.
